The Apache Software Foundation has recently announced a vulnerability in its Log4J utility, which is referenced as CVE-2021-44228. Compliance Systems has reviewed both our internal systems as well as those we develop. We have been notified by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that AWS OpenSearch was using a vulnerable version of Log4J. Compliance Systems uses OpenSearch a a central logging service for our application logs and is limited to our private subnets. We have corrected this with the recommended software patch and determined that we do not have any known exposure to this vulnerability. We continue to monitor the situation to ensure there are no impacts to Compliance Systems.If you have questions, please reach out to us at support@compliancesystems.com.

Recently, the threat actor Nobelium engaged in a cyberattack targeting Microsoft technology. Compliance Systems has not been impacted by this Nobelium attack. We are not aware of any third-parties interacting with Compliance Systems that have been impacted by the attack. All of our computers and servers are using updated antivirus systems. Compliance Systems’ solution does not store any customer or member data collected by financial institutions during transactions. The new Computer-Security Incident Notification Rule (36-Hour Rule) was created by the FDIC to require reporting obligations for ‘bank service providers’ who experience a ‘computer-security incident,’ effective May 1, 2022.Compliance Systems does not fall under the definition of a ‘bank service provider’ and therefore, is not subject to this rule.Notification requirements and processes for security-related incidents are detailed in Compliance Systems’ annual SOC 2 reports.

Updated Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Compliance Systems continues to monitor developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID19). This includes monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization as well as state and local health agencies to ensure our business decisions keep our customers, employees, partners, and communities healthy and safe. As a result, we are currently taking the following actions. Employees and contractors are encouraged to work from home. Our office buildings will remain open for those individuals who may need to periodically come to the office to complete work processes. For visitors who were planning to come to our office, we have made alternate arrangements to postpone meetings or conduct them virtually. Our goal is to limit non-essential visits to our offices.
